Saudi petrochemicals producers said on Saturday they would seek duties on imports from China after Beijing began a dumping probe on petrochemical products from Saudi Arabia and three other countries. Abdulrahman al-Zamil, chairman of the Council of Saudi Chambers, said China had no grounds to pursue the dumping investigation on imports of methanol and butanediol (BDO) it launched in late June. Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao ordered local officials Saturday to step up flood control work in south China after over 150,000 people were forced to evacuate following torrential rains. Over 50,000 people were evacuated in south China after the heaviest rains in years led to flooding and swollen rivers in recent days, state media reported.
